Book Review:
Pre-reading Thoughts:

I cannot believe that this is the end of the world of Trylle! I cannot wait to jump into this book especially since it has been a while since I read the previous book. Gaaahhhh! I am so excited for this!

Thank you so much to Pan Macmillan South Africa for providing me with a copy of this book! Just a small disclaimer for those reading this review. I have received this book in exchange for an honest review. Please note that this does not affect my opinion in any way. All thoughts are my own.

Writing Thoughts:

I love Hocking's writing. It was so easy to just jump right back into the book. There was nothing that held me back. The flow was fast paced and allowed you to get through the book really quickly. I felt like the dialogue was also really well done, it was natural and entertaining.

Plot Thoughts:

I loved that we sort of got a bit of rehash in the beginning of the book. It has been a while since I read the previous two books in the series, so the rehash just jogged my memory and overall just allowed me to reconnect with the story. There were some things that I felt were unnecessary, such as the explanation for burpees. Fortunately, these things were few and far between. I felt like this book was the perfect conclusion. There was a lot of action and key plot points that really helped to tie up the series. I was absolutely obsessed with the plot. It drew me in from the first page and held me captive until the end.

Character Thoughts:

I was really happy that we got to read a bit more on Ember, she has been one of my favourite characters in this world. I liked how we got to see a little bit more into her life, even if it was just through the letters that she wrote. Bryn will always be a favourite of mine. She is steadfast in what she believes. She fights for justice. I loved this cast of characters. I was happy to see some old favourites, making an appearance in here as well!

Final Thoughts:

Overall, I really liked this book. Yes, there was an unnecessary love triangle towards the end, but everything else just created this great conclusion to a series. The author's writing is really easy to get into, the flow just pulls you in and pushes you forward. The plot was really well thought through. The focus was more on information than on action scenes, but I didn't the information to be too heavy. The characters are always my favourite part in Hocking's novels. They just suck you into their world and it is like seeing old friends. Thank you so much to Pan Macmillan South Africa for providing me with a copy of this book to review!

Yours in Reading,

Melleny
