Goodreads Synopsis:

To make Oz a free land again, Amy Gumm was given a mission: remove the Tine Woodman's heart, steal the Scarecrow's brain, take the Lion's courage, and then Dorothy must die...

But Dorothy still lived. Now the Revolutionary Order of the Wicked has vanished, and mysterious Princess Ozma might be Amy's only ally. As Amy learns the truth about her mission, she realises that she's only just scratched the surface of Oz's past - and that Kansa, the home she couldn't wait to leave behind, may also be in danger. In a place where the line between good and evil shifts with just a strong gust of wind, who can Amy trust - and who is really Wicked?

Book Review:
Pre-reading Thoughts:

I was pleasantly surprised by Dorothy Must Die, the first instalment in this quartet. It was interesting and all together different from what I expected. If you want more on what I thought, you can find my review here.

I am excited to see how the rest of the series unfolds and what Amy does in the end. I was so excited that I just went ahead and bought the ebook version. I am also excited to see if my ship survives and grows. I am ready to see what Paige has in store for us in this book!

Writing Thoughts:

I forgot how conversationalist the writing style. It made for an easy book to get into. It filled with dialogue but unfortunately the detail in this book was lacking. There was enough description to just get buy but the image wasn't vivid.

Plot Thoughts:

The plot in this book was actually really slow. I had expected there to be a whole lot more action especially because the last book ended on such a high. I didn't expect that the plot would take place directly after the end of the first book. I also didn't expect that not a lot would happen. The actions that did take place was well done and I enjoyed them. They unfolded a lot like movie action scenes.

Character Thoughts:

Amy was a lot different in this book. One minute she knew exactly what she wanted but in the next she didn't. She wanted a relationship with Nox but then all of a sudden she was too big for it. I don't know she confused me a whole lot. Ozma really grew on me in this book. I thought she was interesting and am definitely interested in seeing what happens to her!

Final Thoughts:

Overall, I think this book suffered from second book syndrome. The writing remained the same but I think the plot and characters suffered a bit in this book. The plot hardly progressed until the end and even then there were some problems. Amy wasn't the same character that she was at the end of the first book. I don't know. I just wasn't really impressed with this book but I will be continuing with the series because I actually like the concept.

Yours in Reading,

Melleny
