Goodreads Synopsis:

Bruno:

I sacrificed everything for her. When I saved her from the mafia, I traded my freedom for hers. I've never regretted it. Never looked back. I cut her fro my life to keep her safe. She never even knew what I traded for her.

I did everything I could to protect her from the retribution of the Italian Mafia, but it wasn't enough. They're after her again, and all that's standing between her and the darkest fate imaginable is me.

Serena:

It's scary the things you can close your eyes to. Even after I was rescued from men who wanted to do the worst things to me, I went on with my life. I forgot all about the threats of the mafia, about what they forced me to do, and even the man who saved me from them.

But now, my heart has returned, and just in a nick of time. Because the mafia is coming for me, and this time, I don't know if we're faint to get out this alive.

Book Review:
Pre-reading Thoughts:

I am actually kind of excited for this book. it has been a while since I've read one of these types of books. I tend to really like then, so I am intrigued to see what this one brings to the table!

Thank you so much to Xpresso Book Tours for providing me with a  copy of this book! Just a small disclaimer for those reading this review. I have received this book in exchange for an honest review. Please note that this does not affect my opinion in any way. All thoughts are my own.

Writing Thoughts:

The writing in this book was a little different. It was good but I don't know how to describe it. There wasn't a lot of dialogue that really worked with this book and it was definitely descriptive.

Plot Thoughts:

The plot was definitely problematic and inconsistent but it didn't take away from the fun of it. I loved this raw and deep love that the two main characters had for one another. It was just adorable. There were definitely more sex scenes than what I had bargained for. However I feel like they did add some value to the plot. The plot was full of action and swoon worthy moments.

Character Thoughts:

Serena is portrayed as this soft-hearted but hard working character that has put so much effort in rebuilding her life. That slowly dissipates as we progress through the story. She owns a shop and has to meet a certain amount of sales by the end of each day but towards the end of the day she just skips days of work. She lives with her mother in this huge house and tries to look out for her but by the end of the book you don't hear anything about the mother.

Final Thoughts:

Overall, I enjoyed the book. It could definitely use some fixing up in some problematic areas but at the end of the day it is exactly what you would expect from a book based on the mafia. I liked the writing but found it different from what I've read before. The plot was slightly inconsistent but it was fun. This book does contain sex scenes and I would not recommend it for younger viewers. The characters were fun but where kind of flat. But once again, I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to see what happens next. Thank you so much to Xpresso Book Tours for providing me with a copy!

Yours in Reading,

Melleny
