Book Review:
Pre-reading Thoughts:

It is no secret that I am a Hocking's fan. I have really enjoyed all of her books so far. Some more than others, but I still enjoyed them. So it is no real secret that I have decided to continue this series, especially after having enjoyed the first one. There were a couple of small things made it loose a half star but I am really excited to continue with Bryn's story. She is definitely a lot different from Wendy in the first book.

Thank you so much to Pan Macmillan South Africa for sending me a copy of this book to review. I hope it is one I enjoy! Just a small disclaimer to those reading this review. I have received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. No money on my behalf has been spent in acquiring this book. Please note that this does not affect my opinion in any way. All thoughts are my own.

Writing Thoughts:

Hocking's writing hasn't really changed. It still has a really nice flow but I felt like in this book, she repeated a lot of information unnecessarily. She kept telling us who a secondary character was and what they did every time they happened to pop up. It became annoying because It wasn't something that you would forget... I also felt like she was telling us more than showing us as how things unfolded.

Plot Thoughts:

It felt like not a lot actually happened in this book. Yes things happened but the storyline that arches over all three books seemed to come to a stand still in this book. Nothing really progressed except maybe the romance between Ridley and Bryn, which we are introduced to in the first book.

Character Thoughts:

I was kinda disappointed in the character development in this book. Mainly because there wasn't any. At all.

Final Thoughts:

Overall, this book was a disappointment. It felt like even though things were happening, nothing really happened. The characters were the same and some weren't even fully developed. But I did enjoy it. There were some good moments in the plot. It was still a fun read, even though it didn't really contribute to the overarching storyline.

Thank you to Pan Macmillan South Africa for sending me this book to review!

Yours in Reading,

Melleny
