Goodreads Synopsis:

She's fierce, but he's never met a creature he couldn't tame.

Audrey's never felt bad about using her magical gifts to survive, but apparently the witch council has a problem with it. Now she's trapped in their forties and forced to study their rules or else loos her powers entirely. Escaping would be much simpler if the reclusive falconer assigned to be her mentor wasn't so disarmingly perceptive and distractingly sexy.

Corvin would rather tend to his birds and keep out of council recruiting efforts, but when his sanctuary is heartened, he reluctantly takes on a novice to train. Only, Audrey is wilder and more broken than any of the animals he cares for. It will take all of his considerable patience and empathic powers to break down her walls, but the more time they spend together, the more danger he is in of losing his heart.

With a young girl to rescue, a band of evil sorcerers hunting her, and the immortal gaurs of the council haunting her every move, Audrey's only choice is to betray the only person who's ever really seen her. She doesn't believe in happy endings... but what if she's wrong?

Book Review:
Pre-reading Thoughts:

I feel like this book could go two ways. It could either be really, really good or it could be really really bad.

I really enjoy supernatural books mainly because they are set in our world and pose the question of what if it is real. I really intrigued to see how this story plays out and whether or not I enjoy it!

Thank you to Xpresso Book Tours for providing me with a copy for this book! I cannot wait to jump into this book. Just a small little disclaimer for those reading this review. I have received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. No money on my behalf has been spent in acquiring this book. Please note that this does not affect my opinion in any way. All thoughts are my own.

Writing Thoughts:

The writing in this book just seemed to be enough of everything. It had enough description, enough dialogue and a fast enough pace that let you fly through the pages.

Plot Thoughts:

The plot was constantly interesting. There was never a dull moment and the tension was constantly building. There was both action scenes and some heart-felt scenes that would tug at the edges of your heart.

Character Thoughts:

The characters were perfect. The two main characters, Audrey and Corvin, were meant for one another. Audrey, who had never really had a home and was broken, and Corvin, who was lonely and never had anyone to love. They were made for each other. I also really like how all of the characters were substantiated and well-rounded. I absolutely enjoyed reading about Audrey's attitude. Whilst it was uncalled for at times, it was always entertaining.

Final Thoughts:

Overall,  I found myself really enjoying this book. It felt real and mystical at the same time. The writing was great, so close to perfect. The plot was always interesting and always pulled you further and further into the book. The characters were accessible and well rounded. Some had a little extra spunk, whilst others had a gentler side to them. It was a really great and enjoyable book to read. Thank you so much to Xpresso Book Tours for providing me with a copy of this book!

About the Author:

Gwen lives a life of romance and adventure with her very own hero in Seattle. She's a nature lover, science geek, and a kitchen with, with a nose for well-aged tequila and a pin-up fashion obsession. When not hiking to hidden waterfalls, taking in a burlesque show, or otherwise cavorting through the Emerald City, Gwen can be found in her favorite cozy chair brewing tales of magic, murder, and romance.
