Goodreads Synopsis:

What if a magical touch meant leaving everything you loved behind?
I was supposed to die. The doctors told me I had only two months to live.
That was before I met him. Daylan.
He was the miracle cure I had been waiting for. With Daylan, I was no longer the small-town girl with that unexplained illness. I was something more. The fate of a magical world depended on my survival, and I longed to go with him. There was only one thing stopping me.

Book Review:
Pre-Reading Thoughts:

I am so excited for this book. I absolutely love Oftomes books and I cannot wait for this.

Thank you so much to Oftomes Publsihing for providing me with a copy of this book. Just a quick disclaimer for those reading this review. I have received this book for free. Please note that this does not affect my opinions in any way. All thoughts are my own.

Writing Thoughts:

I liked the writing in the book, it pulled me in from the first page. The pacing was good but I found myself struggling with it in the first couple of pages. This was due to the fact that it was a bit slow. Whilst the writing was good, I thought that it lacked detail in some places. There wasn't enough to keep a concrete image in my head. However, I loved the dialogue. At times it was heartbreaking and at other times it was witty and swoon-worthy.

Plot Thoughts:

I really liked the plot but I found myself having to go back a couple of times because some things didn't;t make sense at first. The plot was well paced in some areas but in others, it felt rushed. We spent a great deal learning about Swazyi's past and how it affected her but it felt like we were speeding through current events. However, with all of that being said, I really liked the plot overall. I couldn't stop reading and the love triangle definitely made things interesting.

Character Thoughts:

Throughout the book, it felt as if we had just scrapped the surface of these characters. Each character in this book was unique and interesting but most lacked development. I, however, have hope that these characters will grow in the next because the cast of characters is absolutely amazing.

Final Thoughts:

Overall, this debut is great. It ticks all of the boxes for the most part to make a great book. It just needs a couple of tweaks here and there. The writing was great but sometimes it lacked detail. The plot was both fun and heartbreaking but some scenes felt a little rushed. The characters were unique and fun but some lacked dimension due to a lack of development. But despite all this, I really enjoyed the book and am eagerly anticipating the second instalment of.

Yours in Reading,

Melleny
