Pre-reading Thoughts:
n I first read the synopsis I thought that the story sounded very interesting, I am very happy to say that reading now just makes me more interested. I am so excited to see how everything unfolds in this book!

Writing Thoughts:
The writing is rich with imagery which is aided by descriptions. This does make the writing slightly heavier. Despite this, I absolutely loved the writing. It painted the world in vibrant colours and helped to make the story more believable.
Plot Thoughts:
The plot is slow burning but at its core, it has an important message. In a world based on oppression, Veda has to either rise above or accept things the way they are. I really enjoyed how the author provided histories for the believes evident in this book. Not only is it interesting but it also adds depth to the plot. I liked how the author didn't dwell too long on the love interests, instead, she remained focused on the main plot point of the Night rebellion.
Character Thoughts:
Veda added a lot to the story and overall feel of the book. Veda's down-to-earth-upbringing shapes her as a person and adds a level of authenticity to the book. Whilst we have this rounded character, the characters who tend to be on the background lacked dimensionality. This took away from the believability of the story.
Final Thoughts:
Overall, I liked this book. The beautiful and vivid writing pulled me in and kept me intrigued but it did make for heavier reading. The plot was interesting and had a lot of depth to it. The plot helped to pull me further into the book. However, whilst Veda contributed to the authenticity of the book, the other characters seemed to fade into the background in this book.
