After being pronounced Queen of Faerie and then abruptly exiled by the Wicked King Cardan, Jude finds herself unmoored, the queen of nothing. She spends her time with Vivi and Oak, watches her fair share of reality television, and does the odd job or two, including trying to convince a cannibalistic faerie from hunting her own in the mortal world.

When her twin sister Taryn shows up asking of a favor, Jude jumps at the chance to return to the Faerie world, even if it means facing Cardan, who she loves despite his betrayal.

When a dark curse is unveiled, Jude must become the first mortal Queen of Faerie and uncover how to break the curse, or risk upsetting the balance of the whole Faerie world.

Book Review:
Pre-reading Thoughts:

This series has been a crazy journey so far. I didn't love the first book but the second book was so enjoyable. I loved the scheming and the drama that occurred throughout the book. The ending definitely through my out for a loop so I am so excited to jump into this conclusion to see where it goes.

Thank you so much to Jonathan Ball Publishers for providing me with a copy of this book. Just a quick disclaimer for those reading this review, I have received this book for free. Please note that this does not affect my opinion in any way. All thoughts are my own.

Writing Thoughts:

The writing in this book was a lot better than the first one. The sentences remain simple and despite the fact that  there are details and vivid imagery, I feel as though it falls more on the back burner. I really enjoyed the dialogue in this book. I think that it flowed a lot better than in the first book because the relationships were more believable.

Plot Thoughts:

This book was absolutely crazy. I loved the direction the book went into it. All the scheming and plotting from the previous book seemed to pay off in this book. It wasn't necessarily a book filled with the same plot devices as the second and there wasn't as much behind the scene planning.

Character Thoughts:

The characters really came to life in this book. It is a shame that it took three books to get three-dimensional characters but I really liked the characters in this book. Jude was a little more romantic in this one and maybe not as badass as the second book but I still liked her in this one. She seemed to finally grow into her own and become more than just her goals.

Final Thoughts:

Overall, I really loved this book. I thought that it was the perfect conclusion to the series. Was some of it far fetched, maybe? But I think that this is a perfect fantasy series for new readers who want something easy to read and grasp. I loved how everything wrapped up, personally, I found it so satisfying. The writing is simple and easy to get through. The dialogue was so much smoother than the previous two books. This is one of those series where it just gets better with each book. I also think that it is a perfect series to binge if you are looking for something to help you out of a slump or to get a couple of quick books down.  Thank you so much to Jonathan Ball Publishers for providing me with a copy of this book!

Yours in Reading,
Melleny
