Goodreads Synopsis:

An epic YA adventure story about two friends lost in the Canadian wilderness from Danika Stone, the author of All the Feels.
Vale loves to hike, but kind of hates her classmates. Ash is okay with his classmates, but kind of hates the outdoors. So, needless to say they are both fairly certain that the overnight nature hike with their PE class is going to be a hellish experience. But when they get separated from the group during a storm, they have worse things to worry about than bullies and blisters.
Lost in the Canadian wilderness with limited supplies, caught in dangerous weather conditions, and surrounded by deadly wildlife, it’s going to take every bit of strength, skill, and luck they can muster to survive.

Book Review:
Pre-reading Thoughts:

I absolutely loved Stone's Internet Famous. So when I saw that this book was up for a tour, I jumped at the chance to be part of it.

Thank you so much to Xpresso Tours for providing me with a copy of this book. Just a quick disclaimer for those reading this review, I have received this book for free. Please note that this does not affect my opinions in any way. All thoughts are my own.

Writing Thoughts:

I loved Stone's writing in Internet Famous but I found that the writing in this book was a little slower. The slow pacing made the beginning feel as though it was long. However, as the humour and the events began to play out, the writing picked up in pacing. I loved the dialogue between Vale and Hugo. My geeky side definitely had a fun time with the two characters spoke about gaming.

Plot Thoughts:

The plot was one of those that left my heart racing wondering what was going to happen next. The book starts off slow but slowly builds to this point where you start to question what is going to happen. But in a good way. I found myself unable to put the book down because even though a part of me knew they had to end up okay. I found myself worrying just as much as their parents and teacher.

Character Thoughts:

I loved Vale and Hugo as characters. They were both diverse and had a lot of depth to them. Vale is an aro-ace character who has parents who don't quite understand what that means. She is one of my favourite characters because she is not afraid to be herself and she refuses to fall in line with what is considered normal. Hugo is a tall boy who is friends with everyone. He doesn't mind being the class clown but he is unsure what to do when others bully Vale. I loved that their friendship was strong and only grew as the plot continued.

Final Thoughts:

Overall, I enjoyed this book. Stone, as always, delivers. I struggled with the writing in the beginning but as the book progressed, the better the pace became. The plot had me sitting on the edge of my seat with my heart racing. The characters made me envious of their friendship but they also made me laugh and smile because of the connection they shared. I loved the representation of aro-ace in this book, I thought that Stone did a great job! Thank you so much to Xpresso Tours for providing me with a copy of this book.
