Book Review:
Pre-Reading Thoughts:

The first book was one hell of a rollercoaster. I loved it so much but now I have these high expectations and I don't know how everything is going to end up. I am a complete mess about this book. If you would like to read my reviews for the prequel and the first book you can find it here and here respectively.

Thank you so much to Monster House Books and Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book. Just a small disclaimer for this reading this review. I have received this book for free. Please note that this does not affect my opinion in any way. All thoughts are my own.

Writing Thoughts;

Wow, the author definitely stepped it up a notch with this book. The writing was a lot smoother and the pacing was just incredible. The problems that I had in the first books was a lot less in this one. The author has definitely developed in her writing style.

Plot Thoughts:

I didn't think that it could be possible but the plot literally thickened in this book. Wow. Let's just say that I sat on the edge of my seat the entire time. I loved the contrasting images that are always present in the book. This is definitely one of those books that capture your attention even though you have finished it. I won't be saying anything else because I sense spoilers coming.

Character Thoughts:

I absolutely love the main characters. They are just incredible as individual characters. They have their flaws and their strengths and one of my favourite things about them is how well they compliment each other. They are like two peas in a pod. They make my heart happy.

Final Thoughts:

Overall, this book did not disappoint. I loved it. It is clear to see that the author improved on both her writing and her plot skills. She took the time and the effort to hone in on her craft and it was shows. The writing was a lot smoother and better paced. There was a lot less repetition in the story. The plot was juicier and amazing. The characters were stronger and overall a joy to read. This is quickly becoming one of my favourites series ever. Thank you so much to Xpresso blog Tours  and Monster House Books for providing me with a copy fo this book to review.

About the Author:

Raised by witches and dragons in the northern wilds, GIE writes angsty urban fantasy YA romance--where girls who are mortal enemies kick butt, take names, and fall in love against all odds.
She enjoys long hikes in the woods (where better to find the fair folk , believing in fairies (in fact, she's clapping right now), dancing with dark elves (always wear your best shoes), being a self-rescuing princess (hello, black belt!), and writing diverse books about teenage girls finding love, romance, and their own inner power.
She might be planning high tea at the Fae Court right now.
GIE is multi-published, and in her role as an editor has helped hundreds of authors make their dream of being published a reality.

Yours in Reading,

Melleny Smith
