Book Review:
Pre-reading Thoughts:
I read the other recently published book by these two authors and honestly, I found it to be okay. You can find my review for it here if you are interested in seeing my thoughts. Other than that, I am interested in seeing where this book is going to go and what I think of it.
Thank you so much to Xpresso Book Tours for providing me with a copy of this book. Just a small disclaimer for those reading this review. I have received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. Please note that this does not affect my opinion in any way. All thoughts are my own.
Writing Thoughts:
The wiring in this book was absolutely fine. It was enjoyable and it had a really good pace to it. It was the dialogue that was the biggest let down. More specifically the "accent" that Reese had and the randomly inserted french. It felt out of place and it really took away from the story.
Plot Thoughts:
The plot was really good in this book. It was interesting because its like we are in the middle of a story and we slowly put everything together with the main character. We get to learn more about the world and the different species. The politics is interesting. The world in itself is quite complex. I also enjoyed the idea that everyone had one goal that they wanted to obtain.
Character Thoughts:
A lot of the characters just felt like they were just random and not actually necessary for the progression of the plot. Also for me it gelt like Ciarah and Arlo were the most developed characters in the book.
Final Thoughts:
Overall, I have no idea how I feel about this book. It had pros and it had cons. Some things worked whilst others didn't. The writing was good but the dialogue wasn't always good. The plot was interesting but the characters were bland sometimes and lacked depth. I am conflicted but I will say that I will continue with this series if I have the chance cause I am curious to see what happens. Thank you so much Xpresso Book Tours for providing me with a copy of this book.
Yours in Reading,
Melleny
